Fresh advent wreaths have been around since the 16th century in Germany and have been hung on doors to herald the Christmas season since the 19th century in other parts of Europe and the world. Always adorned with natural elements such at berries, holly, pinecones, fruits and beautiful ribbons.
Along with Christmas trees and mistletoe, we’ve carried this tradition with us all the way until the present day. While my floral/botanical design is often more organic and freeform in shape and style, a perfectly imperfect circular shaped Christmas wreath with vintage/natural elements and some Christmas baubles remains a classic favorite.
Living in the UK and seeing how people still fervently embrace the hanging of wreaths during the various seasons- predominantly during Christmas - inspires me to make sure I’ll always have a fresh wreath of my own. Walking around the bustling London streets, or strolling on cobblestone past quaint English cottages- you’ll find your eyes drawn to all the different and wonderful wreath designs people adorn their doors with. My kind of cozy magic.
